Marta Editions

Marta Editions is an autonomous program that highlights the work of 6–12 artists per year in the form of limited print editions of new and existing artworks. With a multi-modal focus, each Release brings together work by artists who occupy different spheres of making, including but not limited to: Painters, Sculptors, Architects, Photographers, Illustrators, and Designers. By collaborating with artists of diverse geographies, artistic approaches, and stages of their career, Marta Editions offers a rich range of editions that meaningfully translate the spirit of original work(s) into the more accessible format of print—a complimentary vision to that of Marta.

A Los Angeles-based, globally-engaged art gallery initially founded in 2019, Marta makes space for artists to experiment with the utility of design, and for designers to explore the abandonment of function. Marta’s curatorial, publication—and now, Editions—programs take interest in the process of a work’s creation as well the narrative of its creator(s). Both Marta and Marta Editions embrace the intersection of and the transition between disciplines, advocate for diversity across outputs, and promote broad access to the arts.

Marta Editions’ format / sizing, and printing / manufacturing are series-agnostic, and thus specific to each artist, artwork, and production. This allows us to work in a collaborative process with the artist to translate original artworks into editions that sympathetically re-produce and -represent the work, collectively making production decisions that can serve to enhance the work’s concept, transcribed medium, and presentation.
The program will generally host Editions in quantities ranging from 50–200 prints. This may be complemented from time to time by smaller, special Editions of prints, objects, and / or other ephemera.
All Editions are hand-numbered. If the artist is local to the point(s) of production and / or distribution, certain Editions may be signed; this will be specified on the each Editions’ corresponding page.
They are. Each print shipped by Marta Editions is done so with a printed Certificate of Authenticity listing work details, pertinent production information, and, where possible, the artist’s and gallerist’s printed signature(s).
Marta Editions aims to highlight the work of approximately 6–12 artists each calendar year, with Editions generally released in groupings of three artists / works, between two and four times seasonally per annum.
Domestic orders are fulfilled via the US Postal Service. We pack and ship Editions by-hand, once per week, generally on Fridays. All Editions are shipped in sturdy kraft mailing tubes with a layer of tissue paper in order to protect prints amidst transit. For prints measuring up to 24 inches at their shortest length, Editions are shipped in a 5 × 5 × 26 inch (12.7 × 12.7 × 66 cm) kraft tube; for prints measuring up to 16 inches at their shortest length, Editions are shipped in a 4 × 4 × 18 inch (10.2 × 10.2 × 45.7 cm) kraft tube.
Yes; Marta Editions offers world-wide transit for its prints through our international shipping partners at Dalsey, Hillblom and Lynn, also known as DHL. We pack and ship Editions by-hand, once per week, generally on Fridays.
A flat, twenty-dollar Handling Fee—which is presented as part of your overall Shipping total—accounts for the cost of real-time labor and hand-work, as well as for the material supplies necessary to package each Marta Editions print safely and skillfully.
Due to the nature of limited edition prints, all sales are final. We accept returns only in the case of damaged or defective products. Please contact us within seven (7) days of receiving your order with photographic evidence of the issue. If a return is approved, we will provide a replacement or refund at our discretion.
While we cannot widely facilitate framing services for purchased prints, we are happy to provide framing recommendations for each Edition based upon the work’s scale, color(s), and composition.
When possible and for a fee, we are happy to work with individuals on the ground here in Los Angeles in order to facilitate framing services with the gallery’s trusted local framers. In the future, we'll hope to partner with larger, networked entities to facilitate streamlined framing offerings.
Marta Editions is an autonomous print program that highlights the work of artists who, while connected to the greater curatorial interests of Marta, have not necessarily exhibited work with the gallery at the time of an Edition’s release. As the Editions program evolves, it will continue to borrow from and inform the gallery’s own programming, growing the overlap of the two entities’ Venn diagram.
Yes; a shifting selection of framed Marta Editions prints will be on view at the gallery in Los Angeles’ Silverlake neighborhood. You may also purchase prints on site with us. When not installing or in-between exhibitions, the gallery is open Wednesday – Saturday, from Noon – 5PM.
While we greatly appreciate your interest in Marta Editions, we are not currently accepting unsolicited submissions to the Editions program.
